Kush & Shruti
As wedding photographers, we’ve seen many brides and grooms, we’ve seen many families, and we’ve seen many celebrations. But every now and then we are fortunate enough to witness something so extraordinary and incredibly special. That’s exactly what GB and Simrin saw when they headed down to Napa Valley in California to help Kush and Shruti remember their big day forever.
From the day that we met Kush and Shruti, we knew that they had something special. “Instantly they just had great chemistry. Body chemistry, their smiles, everything! They didn’t really need much direction in their engagement shoot, it all just happened so naturally,” GB tells us. Even on their wedding day, you could see the bond that these two have is something that everybody hopes for.
We’ve also come to learn that a love so deep and so strong stems from its roots and to Kush and Shruti, family love is everything. “For him, you could tell that family is incredibly important and he wanted his family involved in everything, from the turban tying to the baraat” Simrin says. Something that really stood out to her was the fact that Kush wanted his father to ride alongside him during his baraat, a traditional groom’s procession in which the groom enters on a horse. While the groom is typically on the horse alone, Kush specifically wanted to ride with his father, who even had his own horse! Talk about a father-son love! And since Indian weddings don’t typically take place in Napa, or even outdoors in California all too often, the local news stopped by to get in on the action and wanted to know all about the baraat and the ceremony! How cool is that?!
Something really special that stood out to the team was that you could not only see their heart and soul in their eyes, but the heart and soul that they put into the details. With everything being at the same location, the events seemed as seamless and as unified as Kush and Shruti themselves. “Even though the reception was outside and dancing was inside, it was really smooth and the vibe was so cohesive,” Simrin beamed. Being Chicago natives, this was a destination wedding for the pair and their families and friends. And while the bride and groom obviously looked breathtaking for their wedding day, the entire family looked gorgeous, with everyone decked out in Sabyasachi attire. They even drove off in an old car with a license plate displaying their new last name.
But the highlight of the wedding has got to be the fact that Malkit Singh, one of Kush’s favourite singers growing up, came to surprise the crowd at the reception! The singer had joined in on the festivities at the sangeet, but they organized to make a surprise return for one last party!
This wedding was so special and beautiful for us and we are so honoured to be part of this beautiful celebration. From GB, Simrin, and the entire Banga Studios family, we want to wish Kush and Shruti a long life of love, happiness, and dancing!
